My work
Post college I decided that I wanted to do something which would always let me live life on my own terms. I wanted to do something on my own which would make me available for things that mattered more, my family and my ministry the Joshua Generation.
However I started off working for Stephen Abraham (Moti to friends) or Stephen uncle as I know him. He was my first and only boss and the closest to a mentor that Iv had. His support and valuable guidance throughout the years has been more of a friend and colleague than an ex-Boss. I am so grateful to Stephen uncle, the job he offered me was what kick started my career and all that I forayed into. Ironically Kerala’s prodigy to Indian cricket Sreeshanth also credits Stephen uncle for kick starting his career.
Innovative Services his company along with being the main Wipro dealer was also the partner for Kerala for both Satyam Infoway, India’s first private ISP and Powertel Boca, the country’s leading modem manufacturer. My job involved representing these brands and the solutions they had on offer primarily modems, routers, website hosting etc.
It was 1998 dotcom’s were booming and opportunities were literally endless. The job made venturing into dotcom’s more and more appealing. It led me to register kachavadom.com my first website. The idea was to provide information on good deals in Kerala. I didn’t know Ebay existed nor did most of Kerala or even India for that matter. I wanted to concentrate on Kerala as I felt it was easier to promote. A year down the line I quit my job to work on kachavadom.com.
Kachavadom.com started its beginning just listing discount sales in Cochin alone. Seeing the demand for Manorama Classifieds I decided to make it a full fledged free classifieds for Kerala. My dream was to make Kachavadom.com something like the online version of Manorama Classifieds except it would be available globally free of charge. It would allow people to buy or sell anything in Kerala without any brokerage or commission. The revenue model was based on the banner ads displayed on the site. Today Kachavadom.com recieves around 300-600 unique visitors a day. Almost 80% of the visitors are NRI’s and we have the largest collection of online real estate in Kerala.
The hosting needs for kachavadom.com led me to hunt for web host providers. I finally started hosting with a company in Bangalore. Following my site going online friends and acquaintances approached me to host their websites. As the demand and nos grew I became a reseller for the hosting company in Bangalore for Kerala. . But then the servers in Bangalore were highly unreliable and clients wanted a more reliable solutions . Finally in 2002 what started of as a simple venture to host kachavadom.com grew into a full blown web hosting venture with the birth of Eleazar Networks. I was the first private individual in Kerala to put up a dedicated webhosting server in Kerala. We then transferred our hosting operations to UK owing to the issues faced by Indian companies. Today I host over 600 websites. Over the years we have been creating milestones in web hosting. We were the first to offer Windows 2000 hosting and MS SQL in the state. We continue to lead the competition in areas of innovation by being the first to offer the latest in webhosting.
I am now currently juggling between three projects. One to enable shopping on Kachavadom.com , second to launch keralatourpackage.com a travel portal in Kerala and the third cochindaily.com/kochidaily.com a comprehensive portal for Cochin. As I can work only on one of them I’m figuring out which would be more practical to start off immediately. Will keep this page updated on what follows.
